Generators — FAQs

Do you work on Onan built-in generators?

Yes — we service onboard generators including Onan, as well as portable generator setups used for RVs.

My generator runs but my A/C won’t start on it. Why?

That often points to low or unstable voltage output, a failing capacitor in the A/C, or a generator that can’t hold load. We load-test the generator and check the A/C startup draw to find the cause.

How often should an RV generator be serviced?

Follow the hour-based schedule in your manual, but at minimum service it annually and run it under load monthly. Old fuel is the number-one cause of generator no-starts.
